Sneak Peak! Linda and Gord

Think gorgeous warm sun. No rain. (no, really, no rain). Waves on the beach. Green trees, cool ocean breezes.  A quaint crowd of family and friends. A cute hall in Parksville, BC  (nearby the famous sandcastle competition and kite flying contests). Linda and Gords wedding was sweet, and simply beautiful. Congratulations to them!

You can see their joy:

Oh! The last pic is for Linda’s son Michael, who was cheeky and told me I had to photograph his ‘best’ side. *snicker*

More pics later on!

Pin-Up Mamas with Modern Mama

July 20th, 2010 by Blackbird Photography | Comments Off | Filed in Pinup

Blackbird Photography teamed up with Modern Mama and Modern Urban Designers Hair and Body Studio, for the most amazing Pin-Up photography marathon I’ve been part of yet! Thank you to Barb of Modern Mama or organized to have D’lish for the amazing ice tea and snacks for the Mama’s! One of the most excited parts of the even for me were that three of the ladies were VERY pregnant, gals, you were my first pregnant pin-ups! Thank you, you were all amazing!

So without further ado, here are my fave images of the day:

This one’s going to be a heartbreaker . . .

Little Mr Liam was a little bit less serious for his second photoshoot in his yearly package, but I caught bits of a smile off of him. Such a good little baby, but he wasnt too sure of the camera. This little gentleman was the most adorable was his big huge serious eyes.. good luck to all the ladies when he’s older! :)

Stacy and Corina’s surprise wedding: sneak peak

July 10th, 2010 by Blackbird Photography | Comments Off | Filed in wedding

Everyone invited thought they were going to attend a summer bbq and housewarming party, but when the bride came out in a gorgeous blue gown, the evening became something more special.

This sneaky bridal couple had a day of quick changes. Starting with formal photography in the morning in their wedding attire, then back into their summery bbq clothes (to greet their unsuspecting guests), and then back into their formals for the surprise ceremony. Their formal adventure session was just the two of them, with their lovely daughter, Jules.

I was really excited about one of the locations for the photography, Corina booked the new Alberta Art Gallery. (My favorite exhibit was the Warner Brothers Cartoons!) It is absolutely gorgeous and well lit.

I had yet to photograph a surprise wedding, and I have to admit I had an absolute riot. Definately one of those weddings where you hear alot of laughter and see tears of joy. Everyone was so excited and overjoyed (and a bit stunned). All weddings (hopefully) are joyful occasions, but was the kind of animated atmosphere you only get when there is a lot of unexpected that just happened and everyones emotions were high on handfuls of jelly beans (the good ones, and not the ucky Harry Potter kind).

However, the surprise was on Corina and Stacy when one of the guests were quick enough to open a box of macaroni to shower them with after they were announced to be wed!

Mom & daughter: outdoor adventures

July 6th, 2010 by Blackbird Photography | Comments Off | Filed in Children, Family, outdoor

My wonderful client Amber got a wonderful mothers day present this year from her own mother: a photosession certificate for an outdoor adventure for her and her daughter.

On one of this years most gorgeous days, I got to spend some time with Amber and her busy little gal at the Alberta Legislative grounds taking pictures. Busy gal is exactly right, this little miss does not stop going (except for chocolate chips). It was so much fun to see them again.

Corinne & Josef

June 24th, 2010 by Blackbird Photography | Comments Off | Filed in engagement

Not only by being a totally cute couple about to tie the knot this July, this couple has the added advantage of being my relatives! Corinne and Josef drove all the way from Calgary for their engagement session, and I was just thrilled to meet them (or remeet?). I haven’t seen Corinne since …..well, I don’t really remember, being a second cousin of mine who grew up far from where I did.

Not only sweet and charming, these two are a lot of fun. Often I am quite the chatty photographer, nonstop while I get to know them and help them pose and so on, and find out how conservative, shy or energetic my clients are. After a few minutes of: “please do this, move there, please lean that way, oops, watch your hair flying in your face, look out for dog poop, etc”, when I began teasing them to go running after the geese, and to my surprise they didn’t even blink but took off like a shot!
